Troy Moss Obituary
Moss, Troy October 23, 1947 - March 10, 2013 Troy was born in Ayer, MA, and died in Miami, FL of cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick Siegmund and Corrine Adlridge Bromberger, and survived by her husband of 34 years, Justin Moss, and siblings Eric Bromberger and wife Pat, Corinth Thompson and husband Paul, Matthew Bromberger, and Thrace Bromberger, all of California. In addition, she is survived by her mother and sister in law, Ruth Moss and Carolyn Driggers, also of California, and many nieces and nephews. Troy received her Bachelor's degree in Art History from UCSB in 1969 and during her career held posts at the UCSB Department of Art, the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA, the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, MD, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, MA. She moreover edited publications for many other leading American art museums, and was associated with the Miami Art Museum for a number of years. Through her mother, she was a direct descendent of both the immigrant Myles Standish and the more colorfully named naturalized citizen, Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de La Fayette: a fact that would only be learned from her husband during moments of intemperance, for which he is known. Troy's keen intellect, sharp wit, warm smile, and unspeakable grace during her last five difficult months are an inspiration to all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. The family has indicated that contributions may be made to Florida Grand Opera, which she loved, in her memory.
